Heading on holiday or back home?

A quick guide to keeping your flat/room safe and fresh while you’re away

Updated over 2 weeks ago

If you are planning to be away for longer than two weeks over the festive period, on holiday or heading home please pop down to reception desk and let a team member know you will be away from the building and for how long.

As a functioning building, we are required to conduct flat flushes in any bathrooms that are unoccupied for a significant period of time.

What is involved with flat flushes?

This means that once a week, we run the taps and showers for a few minutes and also flush the toilet in your bathroom.

This is a very brief but necessary step that we take in order to reduce the risk of Legionella growth and spread, therefore important in continuing to maintain the safety and cleanliness of the pipes within in your flat. This will also ensure that everything is in perfect condition when you return.

Before you leave your room

There is nothing worse than returning home to discover some mouldy milk in your fridge has been smelling up your flat. Have a good look in your fridge and cupboards before you leave and dispose of anything which will expire to save you any nightmares when you get back.

Lastly before you leave your room make sure that you turn off your lights, appliances (except your fridge and freezer), and heating before you leave.

Preparing to Be Away

Before leaving your accommodation, please make sure you:

  • Notify a team member at the front desk of how long you will be away.

  • Dispose of any milk or items close to expiry from your fridge and cupboards.

  • Pause any food deliveries and subscriptions.

  • Switch off your underfloor heating.

  • Turn off lights and appliances (except your fridge and freezer).

  • Lock your door securely behind you.

Have a great holiday and see you soon!
